In 2013 Lola Hay Sales began with brothers Doc & BJ Seaman as Lola Cattle Co. In 2014 Doc’s son Bob became the manager of looking after all the details of the cattle operation. At this time they were putting up enough feed for their own livestock.
In 2014, the renowned show jumping equestrian facility, Spruce Meadows, had a devastating fire and part of their loss was their hay supply. At that time they contacted Bob to see if he had any extra hay he could provide to them. They were in need of 10,000 bales and it just happened that Bob had put up some extra hay and could fill the order. This was the beginning of Lola Hay Sales and Bob has not looked back since.
That same year 4 ½ sections of productive hay land was purchased near Turner Valley, Alberta. The attractive part of this deal was there were three hay sheds on the property, which provided a sheltered place to store the hay and keep it dry.
Lola Hay has been a family based business with Bob and his family for years. Today, manager Mike Phillips and his family assist in putting the hay up.
Lola Hay Sales have been suppliers for Spruce Meadows since 2014. They also have exported hay internationally to Buckingham Palace, Japan, the Middle East, Canada, and to the U.S. states of Florida, California, and Texas.
